2019 Cape Cod Vacation Planner: Things to Do on Cape Cod

2019 Cape Cod Vacation Planner: Things to Do on Cape Cod

There may still be snow on the ground, but summer will be here before you know it, making now the perfect time to plan this year’s Cape Cod vacation! We don’t want you to miss out on any of the great Cape Cod events coming up, so we pulled together some of the biggest events and best kept secrets of the Cape to make your trip the best one yet.  (These are just the tip of the iceberg – we have art festivals, craft festivals, wonderful theater, fabulous food, whale watching, bicycling, hiking, or just reading on the beach…. there is nothing like a Cape Cod vacation!)

MAY 3-5: BREWSTER IN BLOOM (BREWSTER)

Each spring, Brewster hosts Brewster in Bloom to celebrate the return of the town’s beautiful daffodils. The weekend line-up includes an arts and crafts show, concert, 5K run, and wraps up with a parade just down the road on 6A!

MAY 24-27: MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

Cape Cod is the place to be during Memorial Day Weekend, the first unofficial weekend of summer. The sleepy towns that have been resting up all winter come to life, just in time for the warm summer weather and long days at the beach. There’s plenty to do all weekend long across Cape Cod – from live music to restaurant openings to art shows. Memorial Day Weekend at Brewster By The Sea Inn fills up quickly, so book soon!

MAY 25-JUNE 2: RHODODENDRUN FESTIVAL (SANDWICH)

Heritage Museum & Gardens hosts its Rhododendron Festival each year when thousands of the plants go into full bloom across their property. Take an afternoon to stroll through their gardens, learn the tricks of the trade from their horticulturists, and explore the museum.

MAY 29 – JUNE 4:  WELLFLEET RESTAURANT WEEK (WELLFLEET)

Wellfleet Restaurant Week is the perfect chance to try some of the town’s wonderful restaurants, with many offerings highlighting the famous Wellfleet oysters!

JUNE 12-16: 20th ANNUAL PROVINCETOWN INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL (PROVINCETOWN)

Provincetown is a mecca for artists, so it makes sense that this vibrant Cape Cod town attracts more than 10,000 people for the Provincetown International Film Festival. Provincetown is home to amazing galleries, delicious restaurants, and picturesque views, so take a look at our favorite spots for plenty of ideas on how to spend the day in Provincetown!

JUNE 29: SANDWICHFEST

Sandwich might not be named after our favorite thing for lunch, but for one day out of the year, it’s all about showing the world how good the town’s sandwiches are. Head to the Upper Cape for SandwichFest, a day-long festival that’s full of arts, activities, a dog costume parade, and – you guessed it – sandwiches. Just be sure to go easy on our homemade breakfast in the morning so you have room for the Best Sandwich in Sandwich competition!

Parades fill the streets during the week-long celebration, while fireworks light up the summer sky at night. No matter where you head on Cape Cod, you’re sure to stumble upon a great event!

JULY 12-21:  FIFTH ANNUAL CAPE COD HYDRANGEA FESTIVAL

The Fifth Annual Cape Cod Hydrangea Festival lets you tour private gardens across Cape Cod with a focus on our beautiful signature flower, the hydrangea.

AUGUST 30-SEPTEMBER 2: LABOR DAY WEEKEND

The worst thing about Cape Cod summers is that they always end way too soon. Send off Summer 2019 in the best way possible – enjoying a weekend by the ocean in Brewster, Massachusetts. Labor Day is one of our most popular times of year, so book your room as soon as you can – we’d love to host you.

Looking for things to do all summer long on Cape Cod? The Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce released its 2019 Travel Guide which is chock-full of places to go, things to do, and sights to see!

A pandemic escape!

Amy and her staff are incredible. The attention to detail is hands down the best. Given all that is going on in this Covid-19 world, we felt safe and comfortable. Check-in was contactless. Our room was perfect. The breakfasts were wonderful and loved the cookies in the afternoon. The icing on the cake was Sweet Pea, Amy's dog, an absolute love! Amy, thank you, we'll be back!

Outstanding getaway!

This was our second time staying at this lovely inn. The rooms are tastefully decorated and the grounds are both spacious and tranquil. There is even a pool which is an excellent way to cool off after a day exploring the nearby trails or bike path. The breakfasts are creative and delicious and very filling. Amy, the owner and innkeeper is wonderful. She takes great care of the property and is so welcoming to her guests. She is very gracious in helping with advice on what to do in the area and making dinner reservations. We were among her first guests as Massachusetts began to "open up" during the Covid 19 crisis. She took great care to assure that everything was done to make her guests safe and comfortable. We look forward to returning.
